Lead Agency: Causeway Work Centre

Funding Approved: $1.5M over 3 years
Funder: Employment and Social Development Canada (ESDC) – Opportunity Fund
Project Period: April 2023 – March 2026

Overview

Power of Potential was a multi-year workforce development initiative designed to expand inclusive employment pathways for individuals with mental health–related barriers to employment. Building on Causeway Work Centre’s long-standing leadership in employment supports and social enterprise, the project aimed to combine skills development, wraparound supports, employer engagement, and entrepreneurship pathways to improve labour market attachment and long-term economic participation.

Following funding approval, the lead organization experienced a senior leadership transition that affected organizational capacity to launch a multi-year federal initiative at that time. In consultation with stakeholders, the decision was made to decline the project despite approval. The work remains a strong example of federally approved program design and demonstrates readiness to deliver complex, multi-year employment initiatives aligned with national inclusion priorities.
